All posts, reflections and thoughts posted by myself as the site editor for boo-in-blue are inspired by my experiences. I am a student nurse attending a full time Bsc in Adult Nursing at a registered university within the United Kingdom. I am not only studying for my degree but also for membership within the NMC (The Nursing and midwifery council) as a registered nurse. I take the NMC code very seriously.
The things I discuss on my blog are my own personal experiences from university, placement and current issues in nursing. Personal reflections and opinions are that of my own and do not reflect the university, hospital trusts I work within or the NMC or any unions that I am affiliated with.
I adhere to The Data Protection Act 1998 at all times. You will not identify any of the people or facilities mentioned in my posts. Any references to patients, staff, mentors, university staff and the facilities in which I study and work within have been fictionalised, the names and identities of these people have been changed. I particularly take the identity of my patients very seriously and whilst I want to share some of my experiences with them and their stories, this is for learning and reflection purposes and I have changed all identities and names to protect their privacy.
I am a student nurse and will continue learning for the rest of my nursing career, even when I am qualified. I therefore emphasise that nothing I write or say should be construed as any kind of medical advice. Whilst I will share things that I have learnt, it is general information and not aimed at any individual and should never be substituted by anyone for any qualified doctor or nurse practitioner’s advice or care. Your doctor should be your first port of call if you have any questions or concerns about your own medical care, I am unable to offer any medical advice or answer any questions relating to medical concerns or conditions. I am not qualified to do so and do not claim to be. I will therefore never answer personal emails, comments or posts on social media that require medical advice relating to anything I have said in my personal blog boo-in-blue.
Any advice or tips I give on my own medical conditions, for example endometriosis, should be taken as a source of comfort shared between those with the same condition and not as the right treatment or course of action. Even if we share a medical condition, what works for one person may not for another, again, medical advice should be sought from your doctor.
I would like to emphasise very clearly that anyone reading this website should NEVER disregard any medical advice they have received or avoid seeking medical attention or care due to anything they have read here.

Affectionately known as Boo to my friends, I opened bake-a-boo in 2006 and after 10 years of making cake dreams come true, hosting fabulous tea parties and releasing a cookbook I have now closed the doors of the tea room. Plagued with severe endometriosis and several food allergies I’m turning all the bad into something good and after being a great patient, I’m now training to hopefully become a ‘great’ nurse! Here I’m sharing my journey, and talking health, my inspirations and life after bake-a-boo…..and of course CAKE! You can take the girl out of the cake shop but you can’t take the cake shop out of the girl so find out here how I can still help you with cakes and treats and parties galore x
